For her botanic paintings, Pippa works mainly from her own photographs of natural subjects. She often crops the images to find compositions which create an exciting tension between dramatic shape, colour and intense realism.
In some of her paintings Pippa has taken a step further into more abstract representations. She sometimes studies a section of one of her original paintings to produce another.
Pippa’s larger scale paintings are usually produced in oil or acrylic, on canvas. However, for her smaller scale work she usually paints in watercolour on paper.
Pippa is also an accomplished portrait artist, working on a commission basis, from photographs. She enjoys painting both animals and people.
